Kristy Ladner - Fourth Grade
I attended Christ the King Academy (now Gateway) from 2nd through 8th grade. My father retired from teaching English at North Kitsap High School, and my mother from teaching first grade at Christ the King Academy; both had long teaching careers. I received my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Alaska, after completing my first three years at Central Washington University. My fifth year of study was in The Brain and Learning, which strongly drives my teaching style and philosophy. I have been married for 28 years and have two grown daughters who also attended CKA through middle school. In 2000, when my youngest daughter was entering Kindergarten, I was offered a position teaching at CKA. After spending two years teaching the Powerline remedial reading program, I moved to first grade, where I stayed for six years. When sixth grade became available in 2007, I moved to middle school, where I taught for seven years. Last year was my first year in fourth grade, which I found to be such an important and special growth year for children. This building is a second home to me, as I have spent so many years here both as a student, parent, and teacher. God has blessed me with a capacity to love all children and push them to be their best person.
