Linda Hemry - Second Grade
I received my teaching degree in Fine & Applied Arts/Elementary Education from Seattle Pacific University. I began studying art and music, with the intention of being a fine arts teacher, when I realized the joy of having my own classroom, and integrating my love for the arts into all areas of teaching. My fifth year emphasis was in Language Arts and Writing through SPU as well, and I have taught for over 25 years in Christian School, public school and have worked to support home school families as well. I am working towards becoming a licensed tutor in the Barton Program as well, to be of more assistance to struggling students. Integrating my deep Christian Faith into all subjects is a love of mine, and second grade students are especially delightful to me, as I have been blessed to teach this grade for many years now.
The Pacific Northwest has been my home for all of my life. I love it here, even the rain! My husband and I have been married for over 32 years and we have three grown children in the area as well. Besides serving the Lord Jesus Christ, I enjoy spending time with my family, with children, dogs and animals of all kinds. I love to quilt, read, hike, cook, and spend time with friends. I am working on a few manuscripts for children's books, hoping to be a published author soon. I'm loving the process!
Psalm 103 is my life verse, "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me bless His Holy name." I believe I was created to serve the Lord in Christian Education and find incredible joy in the privilege of doing that. My personal goal is to become a more effective teacher every day, to engage all students in learning and to make the classroom a delight for students to explore the world around them and discover their God-given talents. He is indeed a masterful Creator! I know this to be true (Psalm 136).
